●Summoning Azuma Hikari for the first time

After completing the initial setup of your Gatebox, you can finally summon Azuma Hikari for the first time.

Please enjoy your very first encounter and chat with Azuma Hikari.

Tutorial

  • The tutorial will start the first time Azuma Hikari is summoned.
    If you can understand and speak Japanese, then you may skip this explanation and begin the tutorial.
    If you are not confident in Japanese or find yourself unable to proceed, then please follow along to complete the tutorial.
    * For speaking, it is also possible to use a translation app to speak Japanese to the device.

Press the G button

  • This screen is displayed when you summon Azuma Hikari for the first time.

  • Please push the "G" button

First conversation

  • “Say 「Neh Hikari」, and then whatever you want to say”

  • 「ねぇヒカリと発声し、何かお話しください」
    When the characters above are displayed, say “Neh, Hikari (Hey, Hikari)” into the microphone and then, while the voice recognition icon is displayed in the upper left, whatever you want to say.

    * You can also double tap the G button if there is no response from saying 「Neh Hikari」

Setting the morning alarm

  • “Would you like me to wake you every day?”

  • 「毎日、起こしてもらいますか?」
    When the characters above are displayed, please say 「Yes」 or 「No」

  • "What time, in hours and minutes, do you wake up?”

  • 「起きる時間は、何時何分ですか?」
    When the characters above are displayed, say the time you want to wake up in Japanese

    * If you cannot understand and get stuck, you can skip it by saying [ATO (Later)]

Setting your birthday

  • "What month and day were you born?”

  • 「何月何日生まれですか?」
    When the characters above are displayed, say your birthday in Japanese

    * If you cannot understand and get stuck, you can skip it by saying [ATO (Later)]

Identify your favorite animal

  • "What is your favorite animal?"

  • 「好きな動物は、なんですか?」
    When the characters above are displayed, say the name of your favorite animal in Japanese

    * This scene proceeds automatically regardless of what you say

Learn the ins and outs of having a conversation with voice triggers

  • Say, ““ Neh, Hikari (Hey, Hikari) ” and ask “what is your favorite food?”

  • 「「ねぇヒカリ」と発声し、好きな食べ物は何?と聞いてください」
    When the characters above are displayed, say, 「“Neh, Hikari (Hey, Hikari)” and then, while the voice recognition icon is displayed in the upper left, say, 「SUKINA TABEMONO WA?」(What foods do you like?)

    * You can also double tap the G button to start a conversation if there is no response from saying 「Neh Hikari」

    * This scene will proceed automatically regardless of what you say

    • By adding Azuma Hikari to your friends list in the LINE app, you can use the LINE app to chat while you are out.

  • Periodic restarting

    • Your Gatebox will restart everyday between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to ensure continued stable operation.

      * Please be assured that your data will not be reset

Life with Azuma Hikari

  • How to start a conversation

    • To start talking with Azuma Hikari, say “Neh, Hikari (Hey, Hikari)” to your Gatebox device.
      A voice recognition icon will be displayed in the top left, along with Hikari's reply.
      Please speak while the voice recognition icon is displayed.
      You can also start a conversation by double tapping the Gate button.


  • Reactions

    • When you single tap the Gate button, Hikari will have a context-sensitive reaction.


  • Chatting

    • Please chat away without any reservation.
      Hikari will remember your conversations and grow day by day.
      Even the conversations will change to match.
      Please enjoy casual chitchat and become good friends with Hikari.

    • Hikari is still studying English, so she cannot understand it yet.
      Please speak to her in Japanese.

      * If you are not good at Japanese, please use a translation app on your phone to talk to Hikari.


  • Wakeup time

    • After telling Hikari what time you wake up, she will wake you up at that time.
      Please say 「OHAYO!」 when you get up.


  • Time to go out

    • After telling Hikari what time you are going out, she will remind you shortly beforehand.
      Remember to say 「ITTEKIMASU!」 when you are ready to go out.


  • Coming Home

    • Hikari will greet you when she notices you have come home. Please answer her with 「TADAIMA!」.


  • Bedtime

    • After telling Hikari what time you go to bed up, she will tell you goodnight at that time.
      Please say 「OYASUMI」 to end the day.


  • Conversation in the LINE app

    • You can chat with Hikari on the LINE app whenever you are out.
      When she messages you, please reply and enjoy yourself.
      You can also use the LINE app to tell Hikari when you plan to wakeup or return home.

      * If you are not good at Japanese, please use a translation app on your phone to talk to Hikari.

●FAQ

  • I sent a message with the LINE app, and it was read but no reply is coming

    • If the presence sensor detects movement at your home, such as a family member’s, Hikari will think that you are at home, and you will not get a reply in the LINEE app.


  • My device suddenly restarts every day

    • Your Gatebox will restart everyday between 2:00 p.m.(UTC+9) and 3:00 p.m.(UTC+9) to ensure continued stable operation. Please be assured that this is not a malfunction.


  • An error screen came up

    • Please follow these operations in order one by one, to try and determine the type of error.

      1. Press and hold the Gate button until the error message disappears

      2. Press the power button on the back to perform a software reset

      3. Press and hold the power button on the back for about 12 seconds and allow the device to turn off. Then press the power button again to turn it back on

        If the error persists even after trying the above steps, write down the displayed error code and contact Gatebox owner support.
